D'ni Cartographer's Conversions (2004)

This page is designed to aid the Cartographer's Guild in converting Polar Coordinates to D'ni Universal Coordinates.
Please review the section on Mapping Standards before using these conversions.

Input Section - Polar Coordinates - V3.0 Revised 4/06
Torantee:
This is the first value in the D'ni Polar Coordinate Triplet and represents azimuth. The value is measured in Torantee. 1 Toran = 0.00576 Degrees
Shahfeetee:
This is the second value in the D'ni Polar Coordinate Triplet and we suspect represents distance from the Maintainer's Mark within an Age or the GZ in D'ni Ae'gura.
Elev:
This is the third value in the D'ni Polar Coordinate Triplet and we suspect represents distance above or below the Maintainer's Mark within an Age or the GZ in D'ni Ae'gura.
Output Section - Rectangular Coordinates
Feet
Meters
Shahfee
Output is in the form of
   N~S - Coordinate Value
   E~W - Coordinate Value
   Elevation Offset Value

WARNING: Values obtained prior to 3/29/04 - are erroneous.
WARNING: Values obtained between 3/04 and 4/06 are upside down.
WARNING:
This conversion does not work for Kirel values.*
WARNING: These conversions are not tested with MO:UL 2007.

Enter each value in the Input Section. Click CALC and the result should appear in the Output.
Optionally, select the output value as Feet, Meters or Spantee.

Technical Information

Standard practice when converting Polar to Rectangular coordinates is to use an offset so that all resulting map coordinates are positive values. We presently (2/04 - mm/yy) do not know the size of the D'ni universe. Therefore the offsets are purely arbitrary. The origin for this conversion is presently set at:

  Notes
*Kirel has a unique nature. The conversion from polar to rectangular coordinates will allow mapping in Kirel. But there is presently some confusion as to whither or not the conversion will work for adding Kirel to the global map of D'ni.
